Urgent (Same Day) Appointments

Please contact us as soon as possible after 8:20am if you have a problem requiring urgent medical attention.

We offer an urgent minor illness service each day 8:30am to 12:00pm and 1:30pm to 5:30pm. This service, which is by appointment only, is operated by specially trained nurses, supported by a GP.

Nurses take telephone calls for routine queries. If you need to book a telephone appointment with a specialist nurse you will be given a time to ring back.

Routine (Non-Urgent) Appointments

If you require an appointment with a doctor or nurse you may call in to the Medical Centre or contact us by telephone to book your appointment. You may also register to use our online booking facility for GP appointments (see top of page).

You will see your own doctor wherever possible, so that you receive the best continuity of care. If your doctor is away on leave, you will be offered an appointment with another doctor.

Doctors take telephone calls for routine enquiries. These calls are taken between consultations and therefore must be kept brief. If you need to book a telephone appointment with your doctor you will be given a time to ring back.

If you require an appointment with a nurse, please contact the Medical Centre either in person or by telephone, after 9.30am.

Appointments for blood tests can also be booked via Nurses’ Desk. All blood tests and urine samples must have been requested by a doctor or nurse from the Medical Centre.

Home Visits

It is better to be seen at the Medical Centre where we have appropriate examination and treatment facilities, and where you can be seen more quickly.

However, if you are too ill or frail to come in, please contact us before 10:00am to request a home visit. You will be asked for brief details of your problem so that urgent cases may be seen first. Your doctor may contact you by phone before visiting.

Minor Injuries or Suspected Fractures

For minor injuries or suspected fractures please attend the Minor Injuries Unit, which is located in Market Harborough District Hospital (Telephone Number: 01858 438178) across the road from the Medical Centre, from 9am to 9pm, seven days a week.

The X-ray Department is open Monday to Friday 9.00pm to 4.30pm.

Cancelling Appointments

GP and nurse appointments are in short supply. Please remember to attend an appointment or cancel it as soon as you know you cannot attend or no longer require it. Even appointments cancelled at short notice can be used to benefit other patients and keep waiting times down.

Missed Appointments

Due to the number of patients failing to attend for their appointment this may mean that you may not be able to see the doctor on the day that you wish to.  In an attempt to try and resolve this the practice has developed the following policy:

If you fail to attend appointments without informing us we may write to you asking if there are any specific problems preventing you from letting us know.

If you repeatedly fail to attend for appointments you may be removed from the practice list and have to find an alternative GP practice.

Test Results

When your doctor or nurse arranges or takes a blood test or other investigation, they will tell you when the result should be available. It is important to contact us for the result of your tests so that any abnormal tests can be dealt with quickly and appropriately.
