Repeat Prescriptions

To order your regular medicines you can either:

• Complete your prescription order form (attached to your last repeat prescription) and bring, post or fax it to us, fax: 01858 431871.  Please ensure you sign and date your repeat prescription request.
• Order your repeat prescription on-line. To do so you will first need to come into the Medical Centre in order to receive your individual Access ID. 

We aim to have your prescriptions ready within 2 working days.

Please note: We do not take prescription orders over the telephone.

Market Harborough Patients

If you live in Market Harborough, please indicate on your order form if you wish us to: 

• Send the repeat prescription to a local pharmacy – Specify Boots, Co-op, Lloyds or Mistry’s so that you can collect your medications directly from there.
• Post the repeat prescription to you (please enclose SAE) so you can take it to a pharmacy of your choice.
• Keep it at the Medical Centre for you to collect and then take to a pharmacy of your choice. Please collect your prescription from Reception.

Patients on Warfarin/Steroids
Please be aware that if you are on Warfarin or Steroids we have special advice cards which can be collected from Dispensary and the Prescriptions Desk.

Dispensary

Market Harborough Medical Centre now dispenses to the majority of villages in the Market Harborough area. If you live in one of the local villages, we can prepare your medications for you to collect from the Medical Centre Dispensary.

The Dispensary also stocks a range of competitively priced items such as pregnancy testing kits, Travel kits and dossett boxes, etc, which are available for purchase by all patients and can be collected along with your medication if you are a village patient.

Order forms and price lists are available from the Dispensary. Any Profits made by the Dispensary are used to improve patient services.

Please speak to the Dispenser if you are requiring your medication urgently.

The Dispensary opening times are from Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.00pm. (Except on occasion for staff training).

Need Medication out of hours?

Annual Prescription Review

If you are taking regular medications, you will need to have a yearly prescription review. The date of the review is on the bottom of your repeat prescription. For the majority of people this review will be done with a suitably trained nurse. Some people will need blood and urine tests prior to their annual review appointment and the receptionists will organise this when you call for your appointment.

Repeat prescriptions for simple medications including anti-histamines for hay fever and skin creams for eczema often can be renewed by a telephone consultation with your doctor. This can be booked through Reception.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
